Famous Nollywood comedy actor Mr Ibu, whose real name is John Okafor, has been having health problems lately; his family and friends raised money to help pay for his medical treatment. But now there is controversy about what is happening with the money.
Mr. Ibu’s wife, Stella Maris, accused his daughter Jasmine and stepsons of taking 300 million naira (over $700,000) from the fundraiser account.
Stella allegedly wanted to use the donation money to buy a new house for herself. So she had Jasmine and the stepsons arrested and taken to the police station in Lagos.

Trouble in Mr. Ibu’s Home
The police investigated the situation. They found out the total amount of money donated for Mr. Ibu’s health care was not even up to 300 million naira.
Famous Nollywood actress Doris Ogala shared this news on social media. She said police were still detaining Jasmine and the stepsons.
Doris also said that 2.5 million naira (around $5,800) was transferred from the donation fund to Stella Maris’ personal account. This was supposedly for her daily upkeep while Mr. Ibu is in treatment. Some people are questioning why Stella needed so much money for herself when the donations were meant for her husband’s medical care.
Why did Mr Ibu use his son, not his wife, as a signatory?
There are also questions around why Mr. Ibu put his son as a signatory on his bank account instead of his wife Stella. This has raised suspicions about Stella’s trustworthiness in managing the funds. Some think there may be deeper issues going on behind the scenes in their marriage.
The public argument between Mr. Ibu’s family members has been messy. His fans want the legendary comedian to get better while his money goes toward effective treatment.
They don’t want to see the donation funds wasted or stolen, as Stella Maris has been accused of trying to do. For now, Mr. Ibu’s health remains the biggest concern. His family problems have distracted from that. Fans hope the money issues will get resolved fairly, the arrests will stop, and Mr. Ibu will recover fully with proper medical care.
