The controversy surrounding President Bola Tinubu’s academic records at Chicago State University (CSU) has caused a stir, with the Labour Party (LP) expressing concern over the implications for Nigeria’s image on the global stage.
Carl Westberg, the Registrar of CSU, recently testified under oath that he had not seen the copy of the diploma certificate submitted by Tinubu to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) before the court proceedings.
The LP, in an interview with Vanguard, highlighted the significance of the situation, stating that it extends beyond Tinubu’s attendance at CSU.

The exposure of the academic records and the ensuing uncertainty raises questions about the credibility of Nigeria’s educational institutions and the image the country projects to the international community.
Obiora Ifoh, the National Publicity Secretary of the LP, stressed the need to uphold proper processes and accountability in the face of this controversy.
He emphasized that this issue has far-reaching implications for Nigeria and the message it sends to the rest of the world.
As the matter progresses, the LP awaits the Supreme Court’s final pronouncement on the issue, indicating that their response will be determined by the outcome of the court’s decision.
