President Bola Tinubu addressed the nation in a national broadcast on Monday evening to acknowledge the challenges faced by the people due to the high cost of living. 

Speaking in simple terms, President Tinubu explained that the fuel subsidy had to be removed as it had become a burden, costing trillions of Naira annually. 

The funds were redirected to public transportation, healthcare, education, and national security.

Our economy is going through a tough patch

He emphasized the need to fight economic imbalances and the dominance of a select group of individuals, and promised to create a more inclusive and fair economy.

To cushion the impact of the subsidy removal, the President announced various measures, including supporting the manufacturing sector and providing financial assistance to students, micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises, and farmers.

Additionally, he highlighted the savings made since the subsidy removal, which will be reinvested in various sectors to benefit all Nigerians.

President Tinubu called on citizens to have faith in the government’s commitment to their welfare, assuring that Nigeria is on the path to a brighter future.

President Tinubu addresses the public tonight

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is expected to address the nation today, Monday, at 7 pm. 

The announcement was made by his Special Adviser, Dele Alake, who urged TV, radio stations, and other media outlets to tune in to the Nigerian Television Authority and Radio Nigeria for the broadcast.

The purpose of the broadcast has not been disclosed officially, but it’s likely to address important issues like insecurity, food security, subsidy removal, and the planned industrial action by the Nigerians Labour Congress (NLC).
