The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has made public the results of the 2023 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), bringing forth a wave of good news for candidates and their families.
However, amidst this, the overall pass rate showcases significant progress. A staggering 1,287,920 candidates, accounting for an impressive 79.81%, achieved credit grades and above in a minimum of five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.
262,803 candidates’ results withheld
Patrick Areghan, the Head of Nigeria’s WAEC Office (HNO), disclosed that out of the total 1,613,733 candidates who participated in the examination, the results of 262,803 candidates are currently being withheld due to reported cases of examination malpractice.
Moreover, a commendable 1,361,608 candidates, equivalent to 84.38%, secured credit grades and above in at least five subjects, with or without English Language or Mathematics.
The release of the WASSCE results has brought smiles to the faces of successful students who have worked hard to achieve their academic goals.
