Are you considering taking a break from the chaos and the pervasive smell that follows you everywhere in Lagos? Do you wish to ‘touch grass’ and reconnect with nature?
One of the best ways to reset is to retreat to a park, spend time alone with your thoughts, take a walk, and finally read that book you’ve been postponing. If you’re a mainlander, this one’s for you.
Here’s a list of parks to visit in Ikeja, all managed by the Lagos State Parks and Gardens Agency (LASPARK).
Dr Oluyomi Abayomi Finnih Park

Named after the late medical practitioner and elder statesman, Dr Oluyomi Abayomi Finnih, this park is located at 3 Opebi Link Road, Allen, Ikeja. The park is spacious and well-maintained, with several recreational facilities including a mini zoo, a botanical garden, three different playgrounds, a restaurant, a games and art arcade, a mini mart, and multiple gazebos for relaxation.
Johnson Jakande Tinubu (JJT) Park

Johnson Jakande Tinubu (JJT) Park is an ultra-modern recreational park created in honour of three former Lagos State Governors: Brigadier Mobolaji Johnson (Rtd.), Alhaji Lateef Jakande, and Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Located beside the Lagos State House of Assembly, Alausa, Ikeja, the park was designed primarily as a relaxation hub. Facilities include an aviary, a children’s playground, a chess area, and halls available for rent.
Ndubuisi Kanu Park

Named after former Lagos State Governor, Rear Admiral (Rtd.) Ndubuisi Godwin Kanu, this park recently underwent renovation, and the glow-up is noticeable. It’s cleaner, brighter, and even more picture-friendly than before. Ndubuisi Kanu park features a children’s playground, a basketball court, a giant chessboard, an aviary, and a gazebo for relaxation. There are also halls available for more private events.
What You Should Know Before Visiting
Entry into these parks costs ₦1,000, and visitors are typically required to present a Tax Identification Number (TIN). Opening hours are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and you’re allowed to bring your own food and drinks. You may want to visit on a weekday to avoid the crowds.
If you’ve been craving a quiet moment away from traffic noise and the daily rush, these parks offer a simple way to pause, breathe, and reconnect with nature, right here in Ikeja.
