Manchester United coach Eric Ten Hag did not hold back while assessing what turned out to be one of the worst defeats in the history of the club against Liverpool on Sunday.
The Red Devils were mauled on a 7-goal thriller that showed that there is still much work to be done.
Ten Hag was direct about his criticism insisting that his players were unprofessional and lack cohesiveness.
“It’s 3-0, as a team you stick together. We didn’t do that. I’m surprised to see this from our team, I don’t think it’s us, I don’t think it’s Manchester United,” Ten Hag said with a face showing how sad he was about the result.
“After halftime, so quickly we gave the game away. We made bad decisions on the ball, how we anticipate, how we concede the goal. The third [goal] was a counter and we were so unprofessional with our decisions, running away, giving the space away, not tracking back,” he added.
The loss came shortly after United won the Carabao cup in what must have been their first trophy in five years.
According to GOAL, Manchester United fought well in the first half before they fell like a pack of cards.
The 7-0 loss is considered their worst in 31 years and the last time Ten Hag side came close to losing this much against Liverpool was 1895.
