UNN Shuts Down Social Events After 6 P.M. Following Tragic Stabbing

Students of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) woke up to a new rule that has changed campus life overnight. The management has announced a ban on all social events after 6 p.m. This decision follows a shocking incident where a student was fatally stabbed during a late-night party on campus.

According to reports, the victim was caught in a fight that spiraled out of control at a social gathering. The tragic loss has thrown the UNN community into mourning, with many students questioning campus safety.

In a statement, the school authorities said the ban is meant to “protect lives and restore order.” From now on, concerts, parties, or even departmental dinners must end before nightfall. Anyone caught flouting the rule could face suspension or expulsion.

Students, however, are divided. “It feels like we are being punished for something we didn’t do,” one student lamented. “Social life is part of campus life, and cutting it short by 6 p.m. feels unfair.”

Others disagree. A 300-level student told IkejaBird: “Honestly, I support the move. Too many things happen at night that put us in danger. It’s better to be safe than sorry.”

The new rule is already sparking debates online, with many Nigerians pointing out that UNN is not the first university to take such steps. Safety remains a top concern on campuses across the country, where cult clashes and violent incidents have been on the rise.

For now, students will have to adjust. No more all-night raves or late dinners. At UNN, the party stops at six.
