The University of Lagos (UNILAG) said it would not continue giving admissions to two courses: Biochemistry and Petroleum & Gas Engineering for 2023 admission process.
This announcement was contained in a press release made by the university’s registrar Oladejo Azeez, Esq on Thursday, January 19, via the school’s website.
Students who earlier picked the affected courses have been told to change to other courses.
“All prospective UTME and Direct Entry candidates for the 2023 admission exercise should please note that the University of Lagos will not run two programmes, namely: Biochemistry and Petroleum & Gas Engineering. Hence, there will be no admission into the two programmes.
“Candidates are hereby advised not to choose any of these two programmes, and those who have done so should change to other programmes,” the statement read.
But in a sudden twist, UNILAG said only candidates who have “written the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) and are awaiting the outcome of the ongoing admission process are hereby informed that they remain eligible for admission.”
“Only candidates who are obtaining the UTME Forms that are currently on sale and will sit for their exams later in March 2023 are affected by the earlier notice, which was published on Thursday, January 19, 2023 on our website and official social media channels.
“Therefore, we implore applicants in the first category, who have applied to the two courses mentioned, to be at ease,” part of the statement released on Tuesday, January 24, read.
Since it was founded in 1962, UNILAG has proven itself as a top-ranking centre of academic excellence.
