Many people have praised Tinubu for displaying commendable qualities during the first two weeks of his tenure.

Therefore, we decided to evaluate some of the actions taken by the president during this short period and examine their impact on Nigerians, as well as the benefits they have provided.

  1. Appointed Gbajabiamila – Chief of Staff

The president’s decision to appoint the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, as Chief of Staff, was a significant move.

This appointment was viewed by many as a strategic decision that set the tone for the composition of the president’s cabinet and the calibre of individuals Tinubu will collaborate with to steer Nigeria in the right direction.

  1. Signed 2023 Electricity Bill into Law

During the period under review, the president signed the 2023 Electricity Act into law.

This act aims to break the monopoly in electricity generation, transmission, and distribution on a national level. As a result, state governments, companies, and individuals are now empowered to generate, distribute, and transmit electricity.

  1. Removed subsidy 

During the president’s inauguration, certain declarations caused significant reactions from the public. One declaration the government would be removing fuel subsidy.

During an interactive session with the National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria (NCTRN), the president expressed his dedication to decisions regarding the removal of fuel subsidies, enhancing security, generating employment opportunities, and maintaining a sustainable environment.

  1. Suspends Emefiele as CBN governor

The president suspended Godwin Emefiele from his position as the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on Friday. The presidency stated that this decision was made in response to the ongoing investigation of Emefiele’s office and the planned reforms in the economy’s financial sector.

  1. Suspends EFCC chairman

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu recently suspended AbdulRasheed Bawa, the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The suspension is aimed at allowing security agents to conduct a thorough investigation into Bawa’s conduct while in office.

  1. Signs Student’s loan bill 

President Bola Tinubu has officially approved the student loan bill. Dele Alake, an aide to the president, informed State House correspondents about this development. 

The bill allows Nigerian students to borrow money for their education without paying any interest.

  1. Charged Representatives of Major Oil Marketers

The president met with representatives of prominent oil marketers in Nigeria to address the challenges associated with fuel subsidy removal. During the meeting, he urged them to collaborate with his government to fulfil the needs and demands of the Nigerian people.

As a result of this meeting, the Oil Marketers Association announced their intention to donate a range of fifty to a hundred ’50-seater’ mass transit buses to assist the general public.

  1. Charged CBN abolish multiple naira/dollar exchange rates

Just two weeks after President Bola Tinubu pledged to unify the multiple exchange rates in the country, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has taken action to implement this unification. 

Additionally, the announcement of these changes in the foreign exchange market comes shortly after the suspension and detention of CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele

President Bola Tinubu has signed the Nigeria Data Protection Bill, 2023, into law.

The Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 provides a legal framework for protecting personal information and the practice of data protection in Nigeria.

  1. Prevented NLC Nationwide Strike

The president successfully negotiated an agreement with the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), which suspended their planned strike and protests regarding the fuel subsidy removal.

According to the authorities, the president reached seven crucial agreements with the NLC and other labour unions to prevent the strike from taking place
