Another tragedy has been recorded in Lagos as a moving train rammed into a Lagos BRT conveying staff of the state, leaving many dead.
The incident, which happened on Thursday, March 9, at Adekunle Fajuyi way in Ikeja, has sent a piece of ice into the spine of everyone, including the state government.
The incident happened barely 24 hours after a fire gutted Akere Auto Part market, destroying goods worth billions.
Meanwhile, Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has described the incident as sad and unfortunate.
Reacting to the train accident in a post on his verified Twitter handle, the Lagos state governor sent condolences to the affected families.
“I am deeply saddened by the news of the train/bus accident . The vehicle was conveying staff of the Lagos state government, our staff who serve the state in different capacities. Let’s say a prayer for the families and a prayer of mercy and protection for our state,” he said.
He also thanked well-meaning Lagosians for the rescue efforts, adding that the first responders are currently at the incident scene.
