Tough days for street hawkers, beggars as Lagos Taskforce set to begin arrest

Based on intelligent reports that some street traders, hawkers and beggars go around with arms and weapons, Lagos State government has set up a Special Task Force to curb the ventures under which many criminals have hidden to attack motorists and residents.

The Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr. Olusegun Dawodu, Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Gbenga Omotoso and Lagos State Commissioner of Police Mr. Hakeem Odumosu, on Wednesday, at the Bagauda Kaltho Press Centre, Alausa confirmed to journalist.

According to them, the special team will commence operations in the next few days adding that the plan to stop street begging was based on intelligence reports that some of the beggars go about with dangerous weapons, assault and rob innocent Lagosians.
