Nollywood has without doubt evolved in recent times. The improvement in film quality can be attributed to strong cinematography, interesting stories, brilliant actors, and, of course, committed and industrious directors and producers. Movie producers supervise and oversee the entire film production, collaborating with the director.
Producers have made a significant contribution to the development of the Nollywood industry and in this article, we’ve, in no particular order, listed the ten(10) best producers in the year 2022.
Kunle Afolayan
Afolayan, who was born to movie director Ade Love, started working actively in the Nigerian film industry in 2005. He is the founder and CEO of Golden Effects Pictures and Kunle Afolayan Productions Television (KAPTv). He has not only produced several excellent films, but also directed and acted in a few of them. Some of his movies that trended are Anikulapo, Swallow, October 1, Citation, amongst many others.
Kemi Adetiba
She is a director of films, television shows, and music videos, and her work has been shown on Netflix, Channel O, MTV Base, Sound City TV, BET, and MTV. She just announced the release of a new project called “To murder a monkey” following the release of the popular television series “King of Boys.”.
Mo Abudu
She is a well-known media tycoon, TV personality, businesswoman, philanthropist, and the owner of EbonyLife TV in Nigeria. She was included on Forbes’ list of the 100 most powerful women in 2021. Blood Sisters, Oloture, Chief Daddy 2, and Elesin Oba: The King Horseman are a few of her well-liked films.
Jade Osiberu
She is a Nigerian writer, director, producer and founder of Greoh Studios. She is one of the outstanding producers in Nollywood because of her successful feature films, which are an exceptional addition to the industry. Several of her popular films and television shows are Gidi Up, Rumor Has It, Isoken, Sugar Rush, Ayinla, Brotherhood, and Gangs of Lagos.
Chinaza Onuzo
He is one of Inkblot Productions’ co-founders, a skilled screenwriter, producer, and director. Despite his lack of popularity, he has worked as a top executive in finance and contributed to the creation of numerous blockbusters in the Nollywood movie industry. Some of his popular movies include Superstar, The Set up 2, Up North, Blood Covenant and The perfect arrangement.
Bolanle Austen Peters
She is a notable producer, director, and cultural entrepreneur from Nigeria who works in film and theatre. Her breakthrough movies are Man of God, The Bling Lagosians, and Collision course.
Charles Okpaleke
He is a Nigerian film producer who has a knack for remaking Nollywood classics to safeguard historical events. Multiple accolades were given to his first movie, Living In Bondage: Breaking Free. His other films include Glamour Girls, Nneka the Pretty Serpent, and RattleSnake: The Ahanna story.
Abimbola Craig
She is a Nigerian Nollywood actress and producer. When she’s not acting, she’s producing movies. With Charles Okpaleke and Jade Osiberu, she co-produced the films Glamour Girls and Sugar Rush, respectively.
Niyi Akinmolayana
He’s a Nigerian filmmaker, director and media consultant. He founded Anthill Studios, a centre for media production, and serves as its Creative Director. He is more popular for his role in directing movies. He produced Progressive Tailors Club and Elevator Baby.
Emem Isong
She’s a screenwriter, producer, and director. She began her writing and co-producing career with the 1994 film, Jezebel. Her films include Dance with me, Love regardless, Hammer, and Knocking on heaven’s door.
