President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of three new Executive Commissioners to the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), according to a statement.
The President also approved the redeployment of one current Executive Commissioner. The appointments are subject to confirmation by the Senate.
Those appointed include Mr. Bashir Indabawa from Northwest Nigeria as Executive Commissioner for Exploration and Acreage Management.

These are appointees
Dr. Kelechi Ofoegbu from Southeast Nigeria was redeployed as Executive Commissioner for Corporate Services and Administration.
Mr. Enorense Amadasu from South-South Nigeria was appointed Executive Commissioner for Development and Production.
Mr. Babajide Fasina from Southwest Nigeria will serve as Executive Commissioner for Economic Regulation and Strategic Planning.
Once confirmed, the new commissioners will work to regulate the Nigerian oil and gas upstream sector and help implement the country’s regulatory, commercial and strategic policies in the petroleum industry.
More details are expected on their experience and qualifications. The appointments aim to strengthen governance and oversight in the strategic oil and gas sector.

Meanwhile, Asari Dokubo, a former militant leader from the Niger Delta region, has publicly criticized President Bola Tinubu over his appointments since assuming office.
In a video that has gone viral on social media, Dokubo expressed frustration that he and his supporters have not been given positions in the new administration despite campaigning vigorously for Tinubu during the elections.
Dokubo was a prominent supporter of Tinubu’s presidential bid and organized rallies in Port Harcourt to drum up support for the now-president. He had even visited Tinubu at the Presidential Villa after the election victory.
