The President of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Zaccheus Adedeji as the new acting chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).
Adedeji will take over from Mr. Muhammad Nami, who was appointed in December 2019.
This was announced on Thursday, in a statement by Special Adviser to the President, Chief Ajuri Ngelale.

“President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Hon. Zacch Adedeji as the new Acting Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).
“The President has directed the erstwhile FIRS Chairman, Mr. Muhammad Nami, to proceed on 3 months of pre-retirement leave, as provisioned by Public Service Rule (PSR) 120243, with immediate effect, leading to his eventual retirement from service on December 8, 2023.”
About Hon. Zaccheus Adedeji
Adedeji, born on January 8, 1978, in Oyo State, Nigeria, holds a national diploma in accounting from the Federal Polytechnic Ede.
He excelled in accounting and graduated with first-class honors from Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU).
Before his appointment as the Special Adviser to Tinubu on Revenue in 2023, he served as the Commissioner for Finance in Oyo State.
He also held the position of Executive Secretary/CEO of the National Sugar Development Council (NSDC).
