Yemi Adaramodu, who is the speaker of the Senate, has mentioned that the Senate might ask the three ministerial nominees who haven’t been confirmed to come for another round of questioning.

Adaramodu, a senator from Ekiti South Senatorial District, shared this on a TV show called Sunrise Daily on Tuesday.

When asked if the Senate will eventually confirm those who haven’t been approved yet, Adaramodu said, “The issue about them is still being looked at. So, if the Senate is satisfied, we might invite them back to the Senate for confirmation and screening once again.”

The security is not satisfied

The three nominees who are awaiting confirmation are Nasir El-Rufai, who was a governor in Kaduna State, Senator Abubakar Danladi from Taraba State, and Stella Okotete, who was the former Managing Director of Nexim Bank and is from Delta State.

Earlier, the Senate had given its approval to 45 other individuals nominated by President Bola Tinubu after a voice vote.

However, the confirmation for El-Rufai and two others was held back due to “security clearance.”

The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, had said, “Just to clarify, the Senate has approved and confirmed 45 out of the 48 ministerial nominees sent to us by the President. The remaining nominees are still awaiting security clearance.”

Adaramodu shared his thoughts on the situation, saying, “If the security is not satisfied, the Senate can’t be satisfied. It depends on what the security agencies and the person who nominated them say.”

The nominees that have been cleared 

Some of the nominees already cleared include Festus Keyamo, Mariya Mahmoud, Lola Ade-John, Bosun Tijani, Isiak Salako, Tahir Mamman, Maigari Ahmadu, Zephaniah Jisalo, Shuaibu Audu, Yusuf Sununu, and Bello Matawalle.

You’ll also find Alkali Saidu, Ahmed Gwarzo, Atiku Bagudu, Simon Lalong, Ibrahim Gaidam, Aliu Abdullahi, Gboyega Oyetola, Heineken Lokpobiri, and Tunji Alausa. 

There are more names: Dele Alake, Lateef Fagbemi, Muhammad Idris, Ali Pate, Doris Uzoka, Dave Umahi, Wale Edun, Uche Nnaji,  Adebayo Adelabu, Ekperikpe Ekpo, Hannatu Musawa, and Musa Dangiwa have also been approved.

And then there are Nyesom Wike, Abubakar Kyari, Nkiruka Onyejeocha, Bello Muhammad, Badaru Abubakar, Joseph Utsev, Olubunmi Ojo, Betta Edu,Uju Kennedy Ohaneye, Abubakar Momoh, John Enoh, Iman Suleiman Ibrahim and Yusuf Tuggar.

Meanwhile, the Senate has unveiled President Bola Tinubu’s list with 28 ministerial nominees

The names were announced by the Senate President, GodsWill Akpabio, during Thursday’s plenary.

The list of ministerial nominees was hand-delivered by Femi Gbajabiamila, who is both the Chief of Staff and a former Speaker of the House of Representatives.
