Chief Ernest Shonekan was Nigeria’s interim Head of State between August 26, 1993 to November 17, 1993, appointed by General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida through a military decree.
In November 1993, three months into his administration, Shonekan was overthrown in palace coup by Late General Sani Abacha.
He died in a hospital in Lagos at the age of 85.
