Ondo State Governor, Mr Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN), has written a letter to the state House of Assembly, informing them of the extension of his medical leave.
The governor had embarked on a 21-day medical leave on June 7 and was expected to return on July 6 to resume his official duties.
However, following medical advice to take adequate rest for recovery, Akeredolu requested an indefinite extension.

Lucky Aiyedatiwa continue as acting Governor
The Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Olamide Oladiji, confirmed that he recieved the letter, stating that the governor’s action is in line with the constitutional provisions outlined in Section 190 of the Nigerian Constitution.
The letter also stated that Deputy Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa would continue to act as governor until there is a written declaration to the contrary.
Oladiji was thankful to God for the governor’s quick recovery and believed that Akeredolu would soon be able to resume his duties.
Quick recovery for our Governor
The governor’s poor health had worried people, and there were reports that he was getting treatment for leukemia, a type of cancer that weakens the body’s ability to fight infections.
The workers’ union in Ondo State also asked Governor Akeredolu to focus on resting and fully recovering before going back to work. They praised his commitment to the state and showed their support and prayers for his health.
Even though the state is running smoothly without the governor, the people of Ondo State are eagerly waiting for him to come back to his position safely.

Gov Akeredolu commiserates with victims’ families
Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, has commiserated with families of victims who lost their lives in the accident that occurred on Akungba-Akoko road yesterday.
This is contained in a statement signed by Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Richard Olatunde.
A source said three persons died. One of them was simply identified as Micheal, a former student at Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba-Akoko,Ondo State.
