Inter Miami secured a major coup by signing Luis Suarez for the 2024 MLS season. Suarez showcased his prowess with a stunning hat-trick for Gremio in a 4-3 comeback win against Botofogo.
Despite Gremio’s triumph, they find themselves level on points with Botofogo in the Brazilian Serie A, with an inferior goal difference and an extra game played.
Following the acquisition of Barcelona legends Lionel Messi, Jordi Alba, and Sergio Busquets in the summer, Miami’s pursuit of Suarez continued. After inking a two-year deal with Gremio in December 2022, Suarez is set to join Miami, as confirmed by coach Renato Gaucho.

Miami, once languishing under Phil Neville, saw a turnaround under Argentine coach Gerardo Martino, clinching the Leagues Cup with Messi at the helm.
The Barcelona reunion is unfolding, with rumors of a potential deal for midfielder Ivan Rakitic. Messi reportedly urged David Beckham to pursue the Sevilla and Croatia midfielder, whose contract is nearing its end.
While MLS salary cap rules might limit wages, the allure of endorsements and exposure could entice Rakitic. Sevilla, currently 13th in La Liga, face challenges in retaining him, making a move to MLS an appealing prospect.
With the MLS and European seasons differing, Miami must sign Rakitic in January or upon the expiry of his contract on June 30, 2024, to avoid transfer fees.
This strategy mirrors their successful signings of Messi, Alba, Busquets, and the upcoming addition of Suarez. While Rakitic’s intentions may differ, joining the heralded ranks of Miami could mark a new chapter for the Croatian midfielder.
