Student cuts throat of 11-year-old boy in Maiduguri

The attack of an 11-year-old JSS 1student by a senior Ahmed Umar Goni, at the El-Kanami College of Islamic Theology Maiduguri, has generated fury.

The incident occurred on January 16, 2022.

The victim, Jubril Sadi Mato reportedly had his throat cut for refusing to run an errand for Ahmed in the hostel.

Civil Society Organisations are bent on taking up the matter and get justice for the victim.

Vice-Chairman Human Rights Committee and Vice-Chairman (NBA) Borno, Barr. Yahaya Dunoma noted that the committee was expected to meet with the management of the school and fashion out ways of getting justice for the victim.

Jubril, currently on admission at the Intensive Care Unit at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, told his parents not to make him return to the school, stressing that he might be killed by the senior student.

Ahmed, who attacked Jubril, said he did that to get expelled from the school.

The SS II student was paraded by Borno Police Command on yesterday. He said he had told his parent to withdraw him from the school to no avail.
