A 19-year-old student identified as Hillary Yuana has been sentenced to four months imprisonment by an Abuja Court for stealing noodles and spaghetti from a shop.
IkejaBird learnt that the convict, a resident of Bassa village, Abuja, was charged with house vandalism and theft.
A source said the judge, Sani Umar, sentenced the culprit after he pleaded guilty and appealed to the court to be lenient on him.
The convict was said to have broken and entered the shop of one Gift Ugochukwu, on March 4.
It was gathered that the convict stole seven pieces of ‘spaghetti’, five pieces of ‘indomie’ and a cash sum of N10,000, all valued at N13,000.
The judge, however, gave the convict an option of N10, 000 fine for each of the offences or go to jail for two months each for the offences.
Umar said the jail term would run ‘concurrently’, while warning Yuana to stop committing crimes.
The judge noted that the punishment would serve as a deterrent to others.
“The offences contravened the provisions of Sections 346 and 287 of the Penal Code,” said the judge.
