Stop the game: NYSC kicks against Peter Mbah's suit with evidence The National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, has issued a response to the lawsuit filed by Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State concerning his disputed discharge certificate. The NYSC's testimony at the Federal High Court in Abuja, delivered by Mrs. Rhoda Dawa, the Assistant Director in the Corps Certification Department, unveiled that the discharge certificate Governor Mbah asserted was issued to him did not originate from the NYSC. This response was prompted after Governor Mbah had taken the NYSC to Court, claiming N20 billion for what he described as conspiracy, deceit, and misrepresentation of facts. Asides from this, Mbah also wants the Court to declare that he participated in the NYSC scheme for one calendar year via a call-up letter numbered FRN/2001/800351 with the Lagos code LA/01/1532. In their submission to the court, they presented documentary evidence which goes against Mbah's claims. One of the body claims is that the serial number of his certificate is supposed to bore 673517 but on the contrary, the certificate presented by the Enugu governor bears the serial number A808297. The NYSC body also argued that the calligraphy writing on Governor Mbah's certificate is different from that of others who passed out during his batch. There were also discrepancies in their probable date of discharge upon completion of the program. Some of the casualties from the election are still recovering in several Akwa Ibom hospitals, and the Director- General of the National Youth Service Corps deemed it fit amidst his busy schedule to visit one of the victims, a corps member who has been recuperating in the hospital. Onuoha Elvis Udodiri, with the registration number; AK/22B/2148, has been admitted to the Ibom Specialty Hospital in Uyo, and the DG, Brigadier General Y. D. Ahmed paid him a visit to check up on him.
