The Bauchi Police Command has arrested an 18-year-old woman named Khadija Adamu. She’s accused of beating her 5-year-old stepdaughter, Hafsat, so badly that the little girl died. The police confirmed Khadija’s arrest at a press conference in the state capital.
This incident happened on September 28, 2023, in the Kandahar area of Bauchi city. Khadija’s husband, Abdulaziz Adamu, who is 38 years old, reported the incident to the police.
He said that Khadija beat Hafsat because the child had an accident and dirtied her clothes.

Police explained what happened
The police spokesperson, SP Ahmed Wakil, explained that they received the report and immediately sent detectives to the scene.
They rushed Hafsat to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) in Bauchi for medical help, but sadly, a doctor confirmed that she had died.
During questioning, Khadija admitted to what she did without much argument. The investigation is still ongoing, and once it’s complete, Khadija will be taken to court for the crime she’s been accused of.
