At first, Hermoso mentioned on social media that she didn’t like the kiss. Later, the Spanish Football Association released a statement on her behalf saying that the kiss was “spontaneous.”

FIFPRO has supported Hermoso and asked FIFA to look into what Rubiales did. They said it was really sad that a special moment for the Spain team, watched by many people on TV, was affected by someone’s inappropriate behaviour.

They said that it’s not okay for someone in a powerful position to touch players without permission, especially when players might feel uncomfortable because of their job relationship.
