The partnership between the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, and Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, might be in trouble just six months after they transferred roles.
The reported issue seems to be because Wike is being too controlling and he is planning on impeaching Simi Fubara.
If Simi Fubara is impeached, several potential negative consequences could arise:
Political instability
His impeachment can create a sense of political instability within the state. It may lead to a power vacuum and a period of uncertainty as the state transitions to a new leadership.
This can disrupt governance and hinder the implementation of policies and programs.
Disruption of development plans
Impeachment can derail any development plans and initiatives set in motion by Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
Projects and policies may be put on hold or abandoned, leading to a setback in the progress of the state.
Political unrest
Presently, there are some citizens who are in support of what Wike is doing, while others feel he is interfering. So therefore, impeachment can create divisions and tensions within Rivers state.
Supporters of the Fubara may feel aggrieved and may engage in protests or demonstrations, leading to political unrest and potential clashes with law enforcement agencies or rival political factions.
It is important to note that these potential negative consequences are speculative and may or may not occur in the event of Simi Fubara’s impeachment.
The actual outcomes would depend on various factors, including the specific circumstances surrounding the impeachment and the actions taken by the new leadership to address the challenges that arise.
