Signing Ronaldo was a big mistake: Solskjaer reveals in Interview | Ikejabird.com

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer recently talked about his time as Manchester United’s manager and the big decision to bring Cristiano Ronaldo back to the club.

He reminisced about spending time with his son, Elijah, much like he did with his older son, Noah, after leaving Cardiff, and with his daughter, Karna, just before joining Manchester United.

Ole thinks  that signing Ronaldo was a mistake, that it was all about popularity and not football.

Solskjaer rejects offers from Saudi Arabia

Solskjaer admitted it was a tough choice. When Ronaldo first returned, everyone was excited, especially after he scored twice against Newcastle. But things went bad during a tough stretch of games.

Solskjaer wants to get back into management. He’s received job offers, including two from Saudi Arabia. His best friend, who’s also his agent, is helping him consider these opportunities. While he loves England and the Premier League, he’s open to new challenges, maybe in a different country with a new language to learn.

Solskjaer statement

“It was a decision that was very difficult to turn down and I felt we had to take it, but it turned out wrong. It felt so right when he signed and the fans felt that at that Newcastle game, when Old Trafford was rocking (after Ronaldo scored twice in a 4-1 win). He was still one of the best goalscorers in the world, he was looking strong.

When I looked at the fixtures it was going to be a deciding period: Manchester City, Liverpool and Tottenham, and Leicester away. Then Chelsea and Arsenal, plus Champions League games. Things went against us. It started with Aston Villa at home (a 1-0 defeat) and a late penalty miss.”
