Cristiano Ronaldo, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner, intends to extend his football career until 2027, maintaining his rivalry with Lionel Messi through the upcoming 2026 World Cup.

 At 38 years old, Ronaldo, who continues to keep himself in top shape, has informed Al-Nassr and the Portuguese national team of his long-term ambitions.

As reported by Cadena COPE, Ronaldo has expressed his desire to sign a contract extension with his Saudi Arabian club, which would keep him playing until 2027. This extension would enable him to represent Portugal at the World Cup co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Ronaldo plans to play 2026 World Cup 

Previously, Ronaldo had hinted at the possibility of retiring from international football after the 2022 European Championship.

 With 201 caps and 123 goals for Portugal, he has already achieved legendary status. However, he now aims to compete in another global football spectacle.

By extending his career until the age of 41, Ronaldo seeks to continue his enduring rivalry with Messi. 

After witnessing Messi’s World Cup triumph in 2022, Ronaldo is determined to make his mark at the 2026 World Cup. Reports suggest that he plans to play on until “early 2027,” encompassing three more seasons of top-level competition.
