A Nigerian man has shared his devastating ordeal after he explained how he asked a lady out but was blatantly rejected because of his tribe.
In a series of Tweets, the young man identified as Chidera explained that he has known this lady who is from a Yoruba tribe for three months but he has never asked her out and they had just been friends until now when he summoned the courage to do just that.
However, it came as a shock o him when the young woman rebuffed his proposal as she firmly stated that she can never be with an Igbo guy.

In a voice note, the lady was heard asserting that she can never marry an Igbo guy as she added that her parents would definitely not allow it.
Although the young woman firmly stated that she wasn’t discriminating, it was just her preference, but Chidera took offense in it and shared it with the world.
According to him, people from the Yoruba tribe don’t hide the fact that they don’t like other tribes as he added that he lost the woman he liked just because of where he came from.
Reactions: The girl didn’t say anything wrong
The post had many social media users talking. While some argued that the man should not have generalized it and it was just the lady’s preference, others supported his words. See some comments below;
@iampacesetter1: Generalising it is not a good thing, there are good and right-thinking Yoruba people I know so pls stop such tribalistic sentiments
@omoashiyanbi: So preference has now turned to hatred! So if I say I prefer a tall lady to a short one, does that mean I hate short girls?
@dsy2by2: You’re not discriminating after all you’ve said?
@victorchinedu04: Move on
@Chibu11343044: For me the girl didn’t say anything wrong, it’s her preference, same with me no matter how beautiful she is if she’s not Igbo I won’t talk to her…. Omo I no see anything wrong there bro
@symply_kinnah12: So? That’s her preference. Would you rather marry someone whose parents would be maltreating you because of your tribe?
@AbdOluwatosin: This not hatred my brother, it’s just preference. She can’t date Igbo guys doesn’t mean she hate igbos generally
@Megamin07032569: Oga! It’s her choice. There are lots of igbo ladies, who wouldn’t marry yoruba too. She said she can’t date u but that doesn’t mean. She can’t flirt with u
