Nollywood movie producer and script writer, Prince Samson Oforndu has said it is not belittling for actors to seek financial assistance from people when critically ill.

In an interview with IkejaBird, he noted that it was normal to get ill and seek help.

This is coming after the death of veteran Nollywood actor, Gbenga Richards.

The thespian had died on Thursday, May 12, 2022 after reportedly suffering from series of ailments, which includes acute diabetes.

It was gathered that Richards found it difficult to sponsor his treatment because he was cash-strapped, thus funds were solicited to assist him.

Actors Ime Bishop Umoh, and Emmanuel Ehumadu, also known as Labista, solicited financial assistance for him on social media.

However, Oforndu believes soliciting funds for treatment in times of cash crunch does not belittle entertainers.

“It is not only actors that get sick. Every human being can get sick at any time and seek for financial help. It does not belittle them,” he said.

Paying to tribute to the late thespian,he said: “He was one of my best actors. He was a rare gem in Nollywood.Going down memory lane. He played the role of Afolabi in a popular TV series MIRROR IN THE SUN. That was in early 80’s. He will forever be in our hearts . Richard is dead and gone but his legacies live on.”
