Michael Emenalo, a former Nigerian football player and technical director of Chelsea, has been chosen as the Saudi Pro League’s football director. 

He brings a wealth of experience from his time at Chelsea and AS Monaco, where he served as an assistant manager and, later, a technical director. 

Emenalo will oversee football operations in Saudi Arabia, with a primary focus on developing the competition and the teams.

Emenalo’s time in Chelsea 

As the former technical director of Chelsea, Michael Emenalo played a crucial role in revamping the club’s academy, scouting system, loan program, and women’s team setup. 

His contributions were instrumental in the club’s success, as he oversaw the scouting and transfers of renowned players such as Juan Mata, Thibaut Courtois, Eden Hazard, and Cesc Fabregas. 

These players became household names at Chelsea and played pivotal roles in winning numerous trophies for the club.

Emenalo’s appointment reflects the Saudi Pro League’s commitment to growth and attracting top talent. 

 The league has already seen the arrival of European superstars like N’Golo Kanté, Cristiano Ronaldo, Ruben Neves, and Kalidou Koulibaly, and they aim to enhance their development under Emenalo’s guidance further.

Barcelona confirm signing of Brazilian wonderkid Vitor Roque

In another news, Barcelona, LaLiga champions, have confirmed the signing of Vitor Roque, a young Brazilian striker, from Athletico Paranaense for a hefty sum of €60m.

Vitor Roque, who is only 18 years old, has agreed to a contract with Barcelona that will last until June 2030. He is expected to join the club at the beginning of the 2024/2025 season.

They will pay Athletico Paranaense €30m upfront, with an additional €31m available as bonuses for the Brazilian team. Vitor Roque’s contract will span seven years, and he will have a release clause of €500m, ensuring Barcelona’s investment in him is protected.
