Real Madrid has officially confirmed that their star goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois suffered a serious injury in training
The goalkeeper was diagnosed with a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee following tests.
This unfortunate news comes just days before the 2023–24 season starts when Real Madrid is scheduled to face Athletic Club. Courtois left the pitch on a stretcher, raising concerns about the severity of the injury.

How long will the injury be?
Courtois, 31, faced back injury troubles last season and had to sit out for several weeks, during which Andriy Lunin stepped in.
Coach Carlo Ancelotti had expressed interest in acquiring a more experienced backup goalkeeper. Still, it seems that Ukrainian player Lunin might need to step up in Courtois’ absence, at least for the initial weeks of the La Liga season.
Losing Courtois for an extended period could significantly impact Real Madrid’s performance.
The goalkeeper has been instrumental in rescuing the team’s defense in recent seasons, and he is widely regarded as one of the best goalkeepers globally.
