Popular Nigerian comedian, Sabinus also known as Mr Funny has caused a buzz in the social space following his question.

The well-known skit maker and actor took to his Instagram page several pictures of himself and asked why banks needed his social media handle.

Recall that the Central Bank of Nigeria made headlines yesterday after they instructed banks to start collecting customers’ social media handles as part of their ‘know your customer procedure’ (KYC).

The apex bank claimed that the purpose of this new directive was to prevent financial crimes and terrorism and to also know the customer’s identity thoroughly.

In other news, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) significantly changed the foreign exchange market leaving many shuffling in their seats. 

In an announcement on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, the apex bank stated that all foreign exchange transactions will now be conducted exclusively through the Investors and Exporters (I&E) window. This decision effectively eliminates the country’s parallel market and other forex markets.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has taken steps to unify all exchange rates in the country. They have consolidated all foreign exchange market segments into the Investors and Exporters (I&E) window.
