Cristiano Ronaldo has finally signed for Saudi Arabian outfit, Al Nassr FC in a deal that is unprecedented in the history of football.
The Portuguese football legend put pen to paper in a two-year- deal that will see him receive the biggest football salary in history at more than £177m per year.
Ronaldo’s new side, Al Nassr FC, made the announcement of the deal yesterday, December 30, describing it as historical for the Saudi Arabian league, “our nation and future generations.”
“History in the making. This is a signing that will not only inspire our club to achieve even greater success but inspire our league, our nation and future generations, boys and girls to be the best version of themselves. Welcome @Cristiano to your new home @AlNassrFC,” the club tweeted.
The former Manchester United had earlier denied accepting the staggering offer from the Saudi side but the deal looked more tempting to resist for Ronaldo who is at the twilight of his blistering and trophy-laden career.
Meanwhile, the 37-year-old described the deal as a new phase of his chapter, adding that he is “eager to experience a new football league in a different country.”
“I am fortunate that I have won everything I set out to win in European football and feel now that this is the right moment to share my experience in Asia,” the football star added as quoted by Al Nassr website.
The forward is yet to issue an official statement on his social media account.
