Death indeed is the reaper of men. It came as a shock to everyone when friend and co-housemate, Alex Asomugha announced the death of Rico Swarvey on Thursday, 13th of October, 2022. Rico was involved in a car accident on Tuesday, October 11, which caused him to go into coma. He was under life support until the time of his death.
Born in 1992 as Patrick to Mr. and Mrs. Fakoya, Rico grew up with 7 siblings. He studied law at Babcock University. After graduation, he started a career in music. That went on until January 28, 2018 when he got into BBNaija Double Wahala house. Rico was evicted on April 8, 2018. After his eviction, he confessed to liking Ahneeka, a fellow housemate during the show.
After the show, the ex BBN housemate featured in a couple of projects, one of them being the popular TV series ‘Tinsel’. He is also known for his role in the drama series “Life 101”. His song “Afrosantana” was also released after his stay in the Big Brother Naija.
Rico Swarvey was an artiste, actor, reality TV star, social media influencer and lawyer. During his time on the BBN show, Rico was seen as a gentle person who always spoke about his mom.
He was very supportive and peaceful to an extent that people thought he was a fake housemate. Fans ascribe him as “unproblematic”. During his stay, the kitchen was a priority; his fellow housemates didn’t go hungry. He thrilled the fans during the show alongside Teddy, Bambam and Tobi.
As at 5 days ago, the ex BBN housemate was congratulating Davido and Chioma on their wedding plans for next year – a year he didn’t live to see. A gentle soul, his fans and the whole world is indeed saddened by his death.

It’s unforeseen circumstances like these that hurt the most. Being a screen personality, a lot of people connected to him. he will live in our hearts forever. RIP Rico
