Emmanuel Macron, the president of France, has hailed one Moroccan midfielder Sofyan Amrabat for his impressive control of the midfield in the FIFA World Cup.
The French president who was present at the stadium for the match against France, singled out Amrabat as one of the most important midfielders in this tournament.
According to Fabrizio Romano, a popular sport journalist, the president had visited the dressing room to spend some time with the historic African side.
In the dressing room, he met Amrabat and told him he is “the best midfielder of the tournament.”
So far, the midfielder has participated in all of his team’s games in the competition.
His creativity and opponent splitting runs had helped his team stay in the tournament.
Morocco lost to France on Wednesday by two goals and will now proceed to the third place stage to meet Croatia.
After his awesome performance in Qatar, the 26-year old can now expect to see a number of top flight clubs lining up to buy him.
The Fiorentina player made his career debut in 2014. He spent his formative years in Utrecht where he played for the youth team.

Sofyan Amrabat was born in the Netherlands. He was one of the youth players that represented the Netherlands at international level in 2010.
He switched allegiance to Morocco in 2013 and made his debut for the country in 2017.
Since playing for Morrocco, he had featured in two FIFA World Cups and one African Cup of Nation tournament. The midfielder is known for his strong presence and box-to-box approach to football. He has been likened to Ngolo Kante who plays for Chelsea Football Club and France.
