Reno Omokri recently praised President Tinubu’s plan to give ₦8000 every month to 12 million households as a way to help them cope with the removal of fuel subsidies and gave him some advice to better it.

He believes that this plan shows compassion in dealing with the difficult economic situation caused by the removal of subsidies on petrol.

Omokri suggests that President Tinubu should make the ₦8000 monthly payment conditional on children from recipient families attending school regularly. To ensure this, he proposes that the principal or headmaster sign payment vouchers as proof of the children’s attendance.

Reno Omokri advises the president

He specifically wrote:

“But to help our nation grow, I would suggest to the President that he ties the ₦8000 monthly payment to the condition that children in recipient families MUST attend school and have their payment vouchers signed by the principal/headmaster of their school proving that they attended school throughout that month, failure of which they will not be paid”

By doing this, Nigeria could reduce the number of out-of-school children, which currently stands at around 20 million. This would have a positive impact on the economy because educated children tend to be healthier and less likely to engage in criminal activities, terrorism, or become teenage parents.

Additionally, Omokri recommends that the government not only provide financial support but also help Nigerians become self-sufficient.

Teach willing Nigerians how to fish

He suggests offering free training and grants (not loans) to at least half a million young Nigerians, enabling them to start their own small businesses. Omokri compares this approach to the way President Roosevelt empowered Americans during the 1930s through the New Deal.

Omokri believes that President Tinubu’s efforts will not only assist Nigerian youths but also contribute to the nation’s progress.

However, he emphasizes that if the President makes mistakes, he should be prepared to face criticism.

Reactions: Wetin 8,000 one buy for this country

Many Netizens felt the palliatives would not change anything. Here are the comments :

@onoroid62004854: Wetin 8,000 one buy for this country, let him not pay anything people do survive without their useless money

@biggiedul: I wonder what 8k would do to people when maize and coin is almost same price with rise , and the bigest problem is some people would surely cashout

@koolthorpe: I honestly believe sharing money with a few people is not the way to go

@IkwerreSpace: Some people have started condemning it, well they should not worry there are people who will appreciate it from the depth of their heart. I just hope it’s carried out effectively to reach the poor masses.

@Adexpalo: So, sharing of 8,000 will alliviate the suffering  of the masses. Why not create something  that will reduce the expenses rather than give them the cash.
