Reactions as INEC declares Tinubu president-elect

Reactions in manifold have continued to trail the official declaration of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the president-elect of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as Nigerians on social media expressed different views on the pronouncement.

Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos state, was announced the February 25 presidential election winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Wednesday, March 1.

He became the 5th president Nigeria has ever produced since returning to democratic rule and will succeed incumbent President Muhammdu Buhari in May 2023.

Pulling one of the biggest upsets in the keenly contested election, BAT of the All Progressives Congress (APC) earned 8,744,726 to place Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in second with 6,984, 520 votes.

Peter Obi of the Labour Party and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) came third and fourth, respectively.

Since INEC announced the president-elect, Nigerians have taken to social media to express their feelings.
