Qatar 2022: Brazil breeze past Korea, to play Croatia in last 8

Brazil made a light work of the Korea Republic in their round of 16 tie.

The Selecao beat the Asians by 4-1 with all four strikes coming in the first half.

Neymar returned into the squad with a bang as he scored from a penalty kick and equalled Pele’s Brazil’s all-time scoring record.

It was the turn of Vinicius Junior to find the back of the net as he made it 2-0 with an instinctive finish.

Richarlison made it 3-0 after a brilliant one-two with Thiago Silva leaving the Koreans perplexed.

West Ham midfielder Lucas Paqueta then scored the fourth after a well met cross from Vinicius.

Korea had something to shout about after Seung-Ho Paik delivered a beautiful strike with a volley which went beyond Allison it ended 4-1. Brazil are now set to play Croatia in the quarter finals.

Croatia vs Japan

Japan made a promising start into the game as they went ahead two minutes before half time through Daizen Maeda.

The defender was on hand to finish a training ground routine via a corner kick.

The 2018 finalist came back in the 55th minute as Ivan Perisic’s powerful header was good enough to beat the Japanese keeper in goal.

The game went into extra time as no goals were recorded and it had to be decided on penalties.

Croatian goalkeeper Dominik Livakovicwas the hero on the night as he saved three spot-kicks to put his team in a winning position.

The decisive penalty was converted Mario Pasalic as Croatia went through by 3-1.
