President Buhari sacked Power and Agriculture Minister for incompetency

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the sack of the Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman and Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Alhaji Sabo Nanono for failed compentency after subjecting sectors’ report to independent and critical review system.

 In a statement made available to journalists on Wednesday, by Special Adviser on Media to the President, Femi Adesina, the significant review steps which led to the sack of the Ministers have helped President Buhari identify and strengthen weak areas, close gaps, build cohesion and synergy in governance, manage the economy and improve the delivery of public good to Nigerians.

He said: “I have personally met with the departing members to thank them for their contributions to discussions in cabinet and the invaluable services rendered to the nation. Today, effectively marks their last participation in the Federal Executive Council deliberations and I wish them the best in all future endeavours.”

He added that change is the only factor that is constant in every human endeavour and as his administration approaches its critical phase in the second term, he has found it essential to reinvigorate his cabinet in a manner that will deepen capacity to consolidate legacy achievements.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Environment, Mohammed Mahmoud Abubakar has been deployed to take over as the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development while the Minister of State for Works, Abubakar Aliyu, is now the Minister for Power.

Buhari futher stated that in due course, substantive nominations will be made to fill the vacancies in accordance with the requirements of the constitution.
