 President Bola Tinubu commended the efforts of the Super Falcons in the FIFA Women’s World Cup.

 In a tweet from his official Twitter account, Tinubu acknowledged the team’s performance despite their outcome.

He praised the Super Falcons, saying, “I want to extend my commendation to the Super Falcons @NGSuper_Falcons for their remarkable display in the FIFA Women’s World Cup. Your exceptional performance has not gone unnoticed, despite the final result. You have truly made Nigeria proud on the global stage!”

Super Falcons in the world cup

Regrettably, the Super Falcons were eliminated from the ongoing FIFA Women’s World Cup following a 4-2 penalty shootout loss to England’s Lionesses in Brisbane. 

Despite Nigeria dominating the match in terms of chances, England was reduced to 10 players after 87 minutes. The game ended in a 0-0 draw after extra time.

England managed to hang on, despite playmaker Lauren James receiving a red card for an unnecessary stamp. 

 In the upcoming match, England will confront either Colombia or Jamaica on Saturday to vie for a spot in the semi-finals.

The match concluded in a draw, paving the way for a heart-pounding penalty shootout. Oparanzozie, a beacon of hope for Nigeria, faced the opening penalty and unfortunately faltered, setting the stage for a tense penalty contest.
