The Lagos State Police have begun disciplinary proceedings against the officer who fired an AK-47 rifle during the celebration of the reopening of Ladipo Market.
Ikejabird reported that the spokesperson for the NPF, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, had mentioned earlier that they had successfully identified the police officer.
The officer in question was identified as Inspector Istifanus Kwanchi, who was serving with the Mobile Police (MOPOL).

Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos police PRO, revealed that he was brought in for appropriate disciplinary actions on Wednesday.
“The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Idowu Owohunwa, has ordered the immediate commencement of disciplinary proceedings against the officer for his unprofessional, unethical and dangerous behavior.
“Meanwhile, members of the public are hereby assured that the Command will not tolerate any form of deviant behavior from its officers and men, while those found culpable will be dealt with in accordance with laid down rules.”

In other news, the Nigeria Police Force’s spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, has disclosed that they have successfully identified the individual captured on video firing an AK-47 rifle to celebrate the reopening of Ladipo Market in Lagos State.
A video that went viral on X (formerly Twitter) depicted a man shooting into the air while a crowd cheered him on. Initially, Adejobi had mentioned that an investigation was underway to identify the person responsible for the act.
In an update shared on Wednesday through his X account, Adejobi confirmed that they had identified the man, and the Lagos State police command would address the matter.
