The Nigeria Police Force’s spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, has disclosed that they have successfully identified the individual captured on video firing an AK-47 rifle to celebrate the reopening of Ladipo Market in Lagos State.
A video that went viral on X (formerly Twitter) depicted a man shooting into the air while a crowd cheered him on. Initially, Adejobi had mentioned that an investigation was underway to identify the person responsible for the act.
In an update shared on Wednesday through his X account, Adejobi confirmed that they had identified the man, and the Lagos State police command would address the matter.

He tweeted, “The man has been identified. The Lagos State Police Command will provide an official response shortly. Let’s await their statement on the issue.
I must commend the efforts of the Commissioner of Police in handling this matter. It has been an excellent response. Thank you.”

In another news, On Tuesday, October 17th, Lagos State government finally reopened Ladipo Market, Mushin, causing jubilation amongst traders.
Ikejabird recalls that the market, alongside a few others, was closed down in September as a result of unhygienic premises.
The Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, finally ordered that Ladipo be reopened so that business activities could commence.
