Guinness World Records, the globally recognized authority on record-breaking achievements, has recently issued a warning to Nigerians over record-breaking attempts. 

They commented on someone’s post online, who said she wanted to break records for an “idea-a-thon” and a “puff-a-thon.” But Guinness World Records told her to stop because they had had enough of these kinds of record attempts.

Recently, Nigerians have been trying to carry out attempts to break different Guinness world records. It started with a Nigerian chef, Hilda Baci, who cooked for 93 hours 11 minutes and broke the record.

Since then, there have been rumors about Nigerians attempting to break records for things like kissing, watching movies, singing, and dancing for a very long time.

We love the record-a-thon enthusiasm 

GWR further explained that they appreciate the enthusiasm for record-a-thons, but suggest individuals seek approval from their team before attempting marathon records.

Netizens were disappointed, thinking that Guinness World Records was stopping their country from showing its talent and determination. They believed record-breaking attempts were a way to showcase Nigeria’s greatness.

Nigerians react to GWR guidelines to set & break a new record

The Guinness World Record has set tongues wagging after revealing an official instruction of what it takes to set and break a new record.

Taking to their official Twitter account, the international body stressed how important it was for an individual or group attempting to break or set a record to get confirmation from them first before going ahead.

“Polite reminder that you should probably have your world record title confirmed by our team before attempting it,” they stated as they also added an attachment of their step to step guidelines.
