The Argentine star, Lautaro Martinez was instrumental to his team’s final step to the FIFA World Cup semi final on Saturday.
He took the last penalty that went right into the net. Missing the penalty would have affected his team.
Martinez understood the task and had the right attitude needed to execute a no-fail moment.
Just before he powered the ball into the net, the Netherlands goalkeeper, Andries Noppert, came to intimidate him. Martinez was unfazed by the goal keeper’s antics.
The Netherland’s shot stopper walked towards Martinez who was about to set the ball on Qatar’s green pitch.
The goalkeeper stared at the ball in a way that projected that he was trying to see where the ball would go.
Martinez, on the other hand, saw what the goalkeeper was trying to do and then raised the ball close to his face just so he could have a proper look.
Martinez eventually hit the ball but the goal keeper failed to stop it from going into the net.
Argentina will meet Croatia on Tuesday to decide each other’s fate in the tournament. A win for one turns into a straight ticket to the final and a loss will push the other to the third place race.
