Former Chelsea striker, Didier Drogba, has named Nigerian forward, Victor Osimhen his favourite player in the world.
Didier Drogba, who is currently 45 years old, was questioned on a number of subjects during an awards show in France.
“Victor Osimhen”, Drogba responded without hesitation when asked to name his favourite active player in the world during a quick-fire interview with Sports Illustrated.

This could be termed as Drogba reciprocating the love Osimhen has for him. Recall that in 2022, the 24-year-old Nigerian striker was asked to name his role model in football, and the Nigeria international named the Ivorian football icon as his hero.
Aside from that, some fans have drawn comparisons between Osimhen and Drogba. Compared to Drogba’s 302 career club goals, Osimhen currently has 105 club goals and the potential to equal or surpass that of his role model.
Victor Osimhen helped Napoli to win their first Seria A Scudetto in 33 years last season. He also finished as the league’s top scorer with 26 goals and five assists.
Despite playing alongside legends like Mikel Obi, Michael Ballack, and William Gallas, Drogba, when asked to name his favourite Chelsea teammate, picked Frank Lampard.
Only two players in Chelsea history have scored more goals than the retired England midfielder, so Drogba’s choice is justified.

According to Transfermarkt, Drogba came in third place among Chelsea’s all-time leading scorers with 164 goals, while Lampard scored an impressive 211 goals for the club. Bobby Tampling, a forward for the North London team, is in second place with 172 goals.
So far this season, Osimhen has scored 6 goals and assisted in 10 games in all competitions. Unfortunately for him, he is currently battling with a hamstring injury which could sideline him for a couple of games.
