Socio-political activist and prominent critic, Chief Adesunbo Onitiri, has issued a statement advising former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, to refrain from attacking President Bola Tinubu and contributing to the increasing political tension in the nation.

In the statement, Onitiri highlighted the importance of waiting for the verdict of the presidential election petition that Atiku had filed, rather than resorting to tactics of self-help.

Onitiri emphasized the significance of Nigeria’s unity and the country’s larger interests above any individual’s stature in society.

It might affect the election tribunal

He explained that despite the recent presidential election and the subsequent swearing-in of President Tinubu, Atiku should avoid undermining the sensitivity of Nigerians by engaging in insults and negative propaganda.

Onitiri argued that, these actions are not conducive to the nation’s stability and progress, especially when facing pressing security, social, and economic challenges.

Furthermore, Onitiri asserted that Atiku’s ongoing behavior might be adversely affecting the Presidential Election Tribunal’s proceedings.

He suggested that the former vice president’s actions were making the tribunal’s duty more complex and might be influencing public opinion against the tribunal’s forthcoming decision.
