The Ogun State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has announced that it will deliver its judgment on Saturday, September 30.
The judgment is in response to the petition filed by Ladi Adebutu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) challenging the election of Dapo Abiodun of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The tribunal, led by Hamidu Kunaza, had reserved judgment on September 4 after the parties involved presented their final written addresses.

The judgement date has being sent to the parties
The tribunal assured the parties that the date of judgment delivery would be communicated to them.
According to reports, notice of the judgment delivery date has been sent to the counsel representing both the petitioners and the respondents.
Afolabi Orekoya, the Media Aide to Ladi Adebutu, confirmed that the judgment would indeed be delivered on September 30.
Ladi Adebutu is seeking a declaration from the tribunal that he should be recognized as the winner of the governorship election held on March 18 in Ogun State. He alleges non-compliance with the electoral act during the election.

Meanwhile, on September 23, 2023, in the city of Makurdi, the Benue State Governorship Elections concluded with a decision that dismissed the petition brought forward by Titus Uba from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
The court ruled that the current winner of the election is Governor Hyacinth Alia, who represents the All Progressive Congress (APC).
The court’s decision to reject Uba and the PDP’s petitions was based on the fact that it didn’t have the authority or power to address the issues raised by the petitioners in a legal setting.
