Nigerians who excelled academically in 2022

Nigerian students have continued to let their intelligence shine through their academic achievements. Here, we examine graduates and secondary school leavers who have done well in 2022.

The Sanuade Twins

The Nigerian twin brothers, Taiwo and Kehinde Sanuade, shook the internet yesterday after making a post about them bagging first class law degrees in the University of Ibadan (UI).
Sharing convocation pictures on Facebook, Taiwo captioned them with,
“Happy convocation to us:
SANUADE, Taiwo David (LLB) (UI) (First Class Honours)
SANUADE, Kehinde Daniel (LLB) (UI) (First Class Honours)
Thank you Jesus. The honour of this is for Jesus who has graciously given us wisdom and the necessary resources to pull this through.”

Priscilla Asikhia

Priscilla finished her PhD programme with distinction in human resources management. This made her Babcock University’s youngest PhD holder and one of Nigeria’s youngest PhD holders as she graduated at 25. She also had her master’s degree in Business Administration and Management at 22 and her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration at 19.

Valour Mbre-Inyang

Valour had A1 in all the subjects he sat for in the 2022 WASSCE. On top of that, the 16-year-old scored 343 in his UTME exams. While speaking with inThe Punch in an interview, the Akwa-Ibom student said, “Anything less than nine A1s would have been disappointing for me. This is because I know the amount of work I had put in and the things I had sacrificed for the exam. It wasn’t really a shock to me or my parents. They all know the kind of goals I set for myself.”

Oluwole Oluwabukunmi

Oluwole also got straight A’s in his WASSCE. The Ondo student topped it by scoring 324 in his UTME.

Khadijat Idowu

For the 2021/2022 set, Khadijat emerged the overall best graduating student in Babcock University. She graduated with 4.91 CGPA from the department of sociology and social work.

Ben Sampson Micah

Ben was awarded the best graduating student in the National Open University of Nigeria at its 11th convocation ceremony as he got 4.80 CGPA. He graduated from the department of health science and bagged a nursing degree.

Elizabeth Ekeoseye

In February, Elizabeth, a Zoology graduate from UNILAG was awarded a bachelor’s degree after emerging as the overall best student. Elizabeth who got admitted into UNILAG with an outstanding O’level result, also graduated with 4.95 CGPA.
