Many people on social media are expressing their sadness about the death of a young doctor named Dr. Umoh Michael.

A Netizen who is reportedly a doctor also said being a doctor in Nigeria is not easy, how would we work so hard to become doctors and still end up being overworked… Only for us to lose our lives because of negligence.

Another Netizen said “After people will ask why Doctors are travelling out of the country”.

Reports claim that Michael died during a church service on September 17 at the United Evangelical Church.

Hope Parents are seeing it

IkejaBird spoke to a doctor who wants to remain anonymous, she said that this is something they have been complaining of overtime.

According to her, doctors are being overworked because the senior doctors believe they can treat the younger ones the way they deem fit.

Another doctor said that she hopes parents are seeing it because she does not feel being a doctor is a glorified career anymore.

Colleagues of the deceased mentioned that he returned home around 3:00 a.m. on Sunday after his long shift and had very little time to rest in their apartment before his untimely death.

Federal Government approves N25,000 allowance for doctors

In another news, In response to the current indefinite strike by the National Association of Resident Doctors, the Federal Government has taken a significant step by approving a special allowance of twenty-five thousand nairas (N25,000) for medical and dental doctors serving in federal hospitals, medical centres, and clinics.

This allowance will be provided from the overhead budget, and it is aimed at addressing the striking doctors’ demands. 

The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the national salary and wages commission, Ekpo Nta, announced this in an official statement.
