President Bola Tinubu has officially approved the student loan bill. Dele Alake, an aide to the president, informed State House correspondents about this development.
The bill allows Nigerian students to borrow money for their education without paying any interest. Dele Alake, a spokesperson for the president, shared this news after the signing ceremony at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Alake said this bill would greatly support young people’s educational aspirations nationwide. However, to be eligible for the loan, students must prove they come from a poor background.

How to access the loan
The Student Loan Bill, now officially a law, is called the “Act to Provide Easy Access to Higher Education for Nigerians through Interest-Free Loans from the Nigerian Education Bank.” It was sponsored by Honorable Femi Ghajabiamila.
Under this law, students who wish to apply for a loan must follow certain steps. Firstly, they need to apply to the Chairman of the Bank through their respective educational institutions. Secondly, they must meet the following conditions:
The student must be admitted to a public Nigerian University, Polytechnic, College of Education, or Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) school.

Aregbesola praises president Tinubu for his political success
In another news, Rauf Aregbesola, the former Minister of Interior, expressed his gratitude towards President Bola Tinubu and his predecessor, former President Muhammadu Buhari, acknowledging them as his political mentors and supporters.
On his Twitter account, Aregbesola credited Asiwaju Bola Tinubu for his role in his political career. He attributed his appointment as Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure in Lagos State from 1999 to 2007 to Tinubu, who served as the governor of Lagos State at the time.
Aregbesola further acknowledged Tinubu’s instrumental support in his subsequent election as the governor of Osun State, a position he held from 2010 to 2018.
