The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has announced the reconstitution of its board on Human Rights Institute (NBA-HRI). 

The 15-member board, chaired by Chinoye Obiagwu, was appointed by the NBA’s national president, Yakubu Chonoko Maikyau.

The reconstitution of the board is subject to ratification by the NBA’s National Executive Council.

NBA wants to protect human rights 

The NBA reaffirmed its commitment to promoting and protecting fundamental rights, human rights, and people’s rights.

In a statement released by the NBA’s national publicity secretary, Akorede Habeeb Lawal, the association’s president expressed gratitude to the board members for accepting their roles. 

He encouraged them to work diligently and utilize their vast experience in human rights to reinforce the NBA’s position as a champion for human rights in Nigeria.

NBA demands justice for slain lawyer Bolanle

In another news, the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), the highest body of lawyers in Nigeria, has outrightly demanded justice for Barrister Bolanle Raheem.

NBA in a statement released by its National Publicity Secretary, Akorede Lawal, the NBA described the incident surrounding Bolanle’s death as unfortunate and tragic.

It also assured that all hands are on deck to ensure that the culprits are brought to justice, adding that Yakubu Maikyau, NBA national president, is monitoring the situation
